2. Answer the following questions from the text:

a)       What is the percentage of the content of water in human body?                                             
        As babies we are approximately 75 to 80% water and as we grow older this percentage decreases until the percentage is reduced to approximately 60 to 65% for men and 50 to 60% for women.
b)       Is the content of water in human body the same on males and females? Why?                   
        No, because women have a higher percentage of adipose tissue than men, that’s why they have a lower percentage of water.
c)        Does the content of water in human body remain through life?                                                                           
        Yes, as babies we are approximately 75 to 80% water and as we grow older this percentage decreases until the percentage is reduced to approximately 60%.
d)       Why does the text refer to water as the universal solvent?                                           
        Because water is a perfect conductor of electricity and this becomes important in the day to day operation of our bodies.
e)       Explain the contribution of water to diet aids and fat reducers.                                                 
        It reduces sodium build up and helps maintain muscle tone. It helps the body eliminate waste and toxins and it also reduces fat deposits in the body by helping the body metabolize the fat that is stored in the body.
f)        According to the text, could water be considered as a suitable treatment for some illnesses? What types of diseases could improve increasing the consume of water?                   
        Yes it could. It could improve allergies, asthma, depression, high blood pressure, diabetes. headaches, chronic fatigue syndrome, colitis, alcohol dependency, lower back pain, neck pain, and more.
g)       Could we consider that coffee, tea, soda pop or drinks with alcohol as part of our water intake? Why?                                                                                                                             
        No, because some of these products have caffeine or alcohol, and it reduces the water of our bodies, so it has the opposite effect us.
h)       What is the quantity of glasses of water per day recommended by the writer?              
        Eight glasses of water per day.
i)          Explain why the writer assumes that physical alterations associated with ageing could be related to the content of water in human body.                                                                         
        He thinks that there is a common generalized reduction in the amount of water in their intake, which reduces their body water percentage.
j)         Distilled or de-ionized water is named "Pure water". Is it supposed to be better for drinking? Why?
        Distilled or deionised water is named "pure water", but it isn’t better for drinking because this kind of water doesn’t contain any oxygen.               
                                                                                                            
k)       Does the writer agree with the use of chlorine as a disinfectant?              
        Yes he does, but he thinks that if dosed too heavily can cause other problems in our bodies.
l)         Explain the meaning of the sentence: "Cells are the basic structural unit of any living thing".    
        Every living body is composed by many cells, who develope the body basic functions
m)     Discuss about the solvent properties of water.                                                                         
        Water is a very important mineral to us, because our body only absorb materials which    can be dissolved in water. It also serves as a solvent for many substances so it’s also important for the transport of these products all over our bodies.
